We didn’t know what that meant exactly in that moment but through prayer, counsel, friends and self-reflection we felt a burning passion to create a church that was safe for people to explore a faith in Jesus. We desired a culture where people would stay curious and continue to ask questions and then to go out and live like we mean what we say we believe. We began to gather with a small group of close friends to lay the ground work for what would eventually become Hill City. In September of 2014 we had our first service and every December since that point we sit back in awe of what God has done. It is at times hard to believe that we get to do what we get to do and it is quite humbling to see what God continues to do through this incredible community. It is a life changing reality that God is giving us a responsibility to show people what it means to love Him and to have an impact in Richmond.
As we kick off 2019 we also wanted to give you a quick snapshot of what 2018 was like. We love to look forward to what God is going to do but it is also incredibly important to look back and appreciate what He has already done. One thing we hope we all realize is that He has given us quite the opportunity and we should never take that lightly. We get to be a part of seeing actual life change in people. We get to make an eternal investment in the lives of others. We get to help people see what real life, real purpose and real hope is like. We get to create environments and a community where we walk alongside of people in this faith journey no matter what stage they are in. We get to see God at work from the youngest to the oldest. We get to be a part of building His Kingdom on this earth.
On behalf of the rest of the leadership team we just want to say thank you. Thank you for giving, serving, creating, inviting and making Hill City a place that others can call home. I truly believe this is just the beginning of what God is going to do and we are just scratching the surface.
Love you all,
Wags & Lacy
