GROUPS

Our current Community Groups will continue online via Zoom calls! If you’re not currently in a Community Group but want a way to connect with a group, we’ve got some new options here!

PRAYER

It’s important that we keep prayer at the forefront during all of this.

We will have Zoom calls for prayer on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7am, 12pm and 9pm. Each call will last no longer than 30 minutes. Every meeting uses the same meeting ID!

GET INVOLVED

Because of your generosity, we’ve been able to respond to financial needs in our community and city during this time. Your continued giving is so important during this time. If you’ve been impacted in a big way by this, please let us know how we can support you.

There are a couple of volunteer opportunities you can get involved in:

Henrico/RVA Health Dept

They’re trying to get 40 people who would be willing to get trained on how to administer test kits so they are ready when the time comes. They will also need volunteers to help field calls from 8am-8pm. If you’re interested in helping out, fill out this form!

-Feed More

They are in need of volunteers that can work in the kitchen preparing and packaging meals as well as volunteers that are available to deliver Meals on Wheels meals to seniors. Volunteer Application Form: https://bit.ly/3908e2N

-Henrico County Public Schools

Accepting food donations for students and their families. Details here: https://bit.ly/3djyqJ9

-Little Hands VA

Little Hands VA provides essential items and support for parents- they’re in need of essentials like diapers, diaper cream, baby lotion, and soap! Check out what they need and how you can help here.

-HandsOnRVA for RPS

There are still volunteer spots open to help with food distribution for kids and families that have been affected by schools closing and food insecurity. Find a time to go and help here.

-American Red Cross

With blood donation events being cancelled, the Red Cross is in urgent need of blood- find a location to give blood here.

-Blessing Warriors

A lot of the homeless have fortunately been relocated to hotels, so they have shelter at the moment, but lack food. A lot of food kitchens have been shut down because of the virus and Blessing Warriors needs all kinds of canned foods (fruit & veggies too) that don’t require a can opener to open and can be heated in a microwave! Drop them off outside the front of U-Turn. They have also created an Amazon wish list to help those they serve- check it out here!)

-VA Kids Belong

Virginia can’t afford a dire foster parent shortage while also facing an increase of kids in care because of an uptick in abuse and neglect cases. (Teachers are the top reporters of abuse and neglect.) VA Kids Belong is collecting items for Foster Care Survival Kits to be distributed via a drive thru to at-risk families as well as foster, kinship and adoptive families.

-Into the Neighborhood

As a church, we’ve “adopted” a recovery house through Into the Neighborhood. Into the Neighborhood’s mission is all about loving God and loving thy neighbor. As a part of their ministry, they’ve been discipling men and women in the Richmond Jail, and then they continue to walk alongside them as they come out of jail and transition into recovery communities. Many of the men and women in the recovery houses have jobs, but due to the virus, some of their hours have been cut/they’re at risk of losing their jobs altogether. So by adopting the house, we’re looking to take the burden of paying for some household essentials and groceries off of their plates. We need a small team of volunteers involved to do some shopping for items that the house needs and drop those items off. If you’d like to help with this, email sara@hillcityrva.com.

Masks project

Fabric masks needed! There’s been a lot of debate and back and forth as to who could benefit from fabric masks, where to take them, etc… but at this point, we know that they are needed at different doctors offices, certain medical facilities, and even nursings homes. So, let’s get to work!

If you are able to sew and follow a simple pattern, sign up here.
