THE COMMONS

Aren't big announcements the best?! If you haven't heard yet, we've got one for you.

Wags announced on Sunday, June 18th that we have officially signed the papers to purchase THE BUILDING! Meaning, we have a permanent home in the making that will eventually be called The Commons. Over the next few months, we’ll have a lot more information coming out, so check out what we have below and stay tuned!

how we really feel about it…

ABOUT THE COMMONS

Our building will be called "The Commons" because this isn't just about Hill City. This is for our community. The heart behind this space will always be to serve our community and that's why our tagline will be "For the good of Richmond."

Plans are underway for what will be developed in the space— we are establishing partnerships with organizations that have a shared vision with us, working with architects to create space for a childcare development center, counseling center, non profit shared office spaces and so much more. Our goal is that this is a hub of difference makers doing "good" throughout the city of Richmond with Jesus being at the center of all of it.

So what’s next? We’re raising money to make these dreams come a reality!

HOW TO GIVE

Our goal is to raise 3 million dollars over the next 3 years.

Anything with the word "million" attached to it sounds like a lot but as Wags shared in the video, if every household that currently attends Hill City gave an extra $50 a month, we’d reach this goal! Every gift, no matter how big or small will make a difference and impact someone's life in the future, so thank you for your generosity and being a part of this incredible story!

What’s the purpose of the pledge? It’s really to help designate our giving towards the Commons, to help us reach our goal.

Questions or technical issues with your pledge? email joe@hillcityrva.com

Head to our Giving Page to select your pledge.

  1. Choose the amount you would like to give each month towards your pledge… the pledge total will be your monthly giving amount x 36 months (our 3 year mark!)
*for example— at a pledge of $50 a month, you’d enter $1800 to make a $50 pledge per month.

  2. enter your information and date range, then you will see a detailed outline of your monthly pledge.

  3. voila! You have made your pledge to partner with us for our goal to make The Commons a home for Hill City and the Richmond community.

FAQs

  • No, we are not changing our name. The Commons will be its own separate entity. The Hill City name will remain intact, we will just meet at "The Commons”.

  • The Hill City Day School will be under the umbrella of Hill City but fully operate on its own with a separate staff, budget, board and licensing. Eventually we will be moving the Day School to The Commons as well.

When that move will be is determined by how much money we are able to raise as well as how quickly construction could happen.

  • We are very early in the planning process and as drawings become available we will share those with everyone as soon as we can. There is a lot to consider with the future of this property and we want to make sure there is a really good architectural plan in place to make sure this building can flourish.

  • We are in process of having conversations with several organizations that we are looking to partner with and as the partnerships take place we will make that public.

  • Yes, sports will continue in the building. What that will look like in the future is still unknown as we are in the planning phase. But there is a desire to have sports as a part of the future of The Commons.

  • We want to have partners in the building that have a heart to make Richmond better by what they do. There will be a concentration on things that center on the mind, body and soul. Of course Jesus and the church (Hill City) will be a centering point as a foundational piece. We will be working with organizations who embody that same kind of heart and vision for the city.

  • In the near future we will not be hiring. As things progress with development it is possible that positions could become available.

  • The goal is to not be displaced but at this time we can't say that definitively until there are more concrete plans in place.
